Caribbean Inspired

Bold flavor belongs on the plate.

These are the kinds of meals I love to cook—well seasoned, familiar, colorful, and built with the same balance-first approach I use throughout The Flavor Balance.

What It Means Here

Inspired by flavor, not boxed in by rules.

I use “Caribbean Inspired” intentionally. These recipes may pull from flavors, seasonings, ingredients, and cooking ideas I enjoy, but I’m not claiming that every dish is a traditional or authentic version of a specific Caribbean recipe.

This is my kitchen. Sometimes I’ll keep things familiar, sometimes I’ll make adjustments that fit the way I’m eating now, and sometimes I’ll combine flavors in a way that simply tastes good to me.

The goal is flavor without pretending every plate has to fit inside one box.

In My Kitchen

Flavor starts before the food hits the plate.

I don’t want meals that technically fit my goals but leave me wishing I had eaten something else. Seasoning is part of how I make food something I look forward to.

01

Sazón & Bouillon

Goya Sazón and Maggi are part of the seasoning foundation I often reach for when cooking meat and fish.

02

Garlic & Aromatics

Fresh garlic, garlic powder, onions, scallions, and peppers help create layers of flavor instead of relying on one note.

03

Herbs & Spice

Oregano, cumin, cayenne, paprika, Italian herbs, and other seasonings change depending on what I’m making.

04

Taste As You Go

The written recipe is the starting point. I still want the final plate seasoned in a way that actually tastes good.

Flavor + Balance

I don’t want healthier eating to erase the foods and flavors I enjoy.

Sometimes balance means using a leaner protein. Sometimes it means adding more vegetables. Sometimes it means measuring the rice or potatoes instead of removing them.

And sometimes the original ingredient still belongs on the plate. I’m learning to look at the whole meal instead of treating one food as the problem.

Keep the food you love. Build the balance around it.
